Prices and cost
It is difficult to calculate the prices and the cost of woven articles and that is because in their majority woven articles are creations of women of each household. The raw materials are primarily wool which is a product produced within the framework of home animal breeding. When the woven articles and the wool are a commercial kind then it is possible to also research their cost. But this requires careful and systematic study of the trade lists, files and other written sources, something not possible to be done within the context of this research. It is however known that the price of wool increased and decreased depending on the demand and the commercial tricks of the animal breeders and the middlemen who purchased the wool and woven articles on behalf of the guilds. An indicative price referenced in a report of the French Consul Felix Beauzour refers to 15-25 paras for an oke of wool.
