Settled from pre-historic times, Grammenohoria declined following Roman conquest and reached their acme in the years of Ottoman conquest. They paid for the uprising of 1821 with mass emigration. The locals returned a few years later and did not leave again since the small distance from Ioannina made it possible for many to have their main or second residence here.
