Parakalamos is considered a “source" of folklore musicians. The
great tradition of the area is continued by the family Halighiannades that has spurred many generations of musicians. The female part-song band consisting is also remarkable, reflecting the intense influence of the tradition of Pogoni (tritonic – pentatonic elements in songs relevant to the cycle of life; dirges are also famous).
