The work and living conditions
The working conditions for the wood sculptors were certainly not good. From the cutting of the suitable timber, its transportation, its time consuming and laborious preparation and processing, as well as their journeys and the compulsory migration, we can imagine how difficult their life must have been.

Usually the master craftsman, who was the eldest, drew and guarded the designs, applied the «finishing touches» to the work and negotiated the agreements for the assumption of the job.

Other parallel works that they carried out
The wood sculptors, in addition to the construction of iconostases and other ecclesiastical objects and wood sculptured decorations for residences were also occupied with other relevant tasks, especially during the difficult economic periods.Carpentry work and even plastering, as it appears from agreements that they signed, were some of their occupations.
