The wood sculptured works
The Metsovo wood sculptors created wood sculptured ecclesiastical works such as the iconostases, Despotic thrones, pulpits, icon stands, ciborium for the epitaphs, Lecterns, candelabra etc, for the liturgical needs of the churches, but also for decorative reasons, as well as works that related to the decoration of residences, for example wood sculptured ceilings, built in wardrobes, etc or decorated objects for daily use such as the spoons, shepherds crooks, etc.

Iconostases
During the Byzantine period the iconostases were mainly of marble. In the post Byzantine period the norm became wood sculptured iconostases, which exhibit generally a tripartite division in the height.

Despotic thrones

Candelabra candle sticks and candle holders
The use of these sources of light in the churches was an ancient practice, which were placed before the Despotic icons of Christ and the Virgin Mary. They carried candle holders, one large and smaller, for the supporting of the candles by the faithful.

Ripidia cherubim
Nowadays they hold the place of banners and they carried at processions and litanies and «the six winged Seraphim appeared resembling the many eyed Cherubim».
